My evolution into an acupuncturist and herbalist has been lifelong… I was raised by a nurse of gerontology who has always loved and excelled in her work. With medical school in mind, I studied biology at CU Boulder but quickly realized it was the natural world I loved, especially the use of plants as medicine. I believe it was the combination of these factors that led me to alternative and natural health initially, but once I was exposed to Chinese medicine I became forever inspired. It seemed like the perfect integration of science, nature, and art form.
Over the past twenty years I have worked in diverse healthcare settings. I shadowed Dr. Geoff Ferrante, a general and vascular surgeon at South Shore Hospital and former Chief of Staff. I have traveled to the Dominican Republic to help poor areas develop their healthcare system and to educate about AIDS and other preventable disease. In 2008, I received my Masters in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from the New England School of Acupuncture, one of the top 3 acupuncture schools in the nation. Studying in Boston gave me exposure to cutting edge research and educators in integrative healthcare through NESA’s relationships with Harvard’s Osher Center for Integrative Medicine and Tufts University School of Medicine. As part of my training to be an acupuncturist, I have worked in both major city hospitals and small inner city clinics, with pediatric and adult populations for a total of 10 clinical rotations and 720 training hours.
Upon graduation, I worked outside of Boston at The Lane Center for Natural Healing in private practice, alongside Genevieve Lane, an experienced practitioner of over 30 years. In spring 2012, I relocated to Boulder county with my family and was a part of Left Hand Community Acupuncture in Lafayette and its effort to make acupuncture affordable and accessible. After quickly realizing private practice was where I thrived, I worked to grow my business in downtown Louisville from 2012-2015. Most recently, I have joined Front Street Health and Wellness Group in Lafayette. I feel privileged to live my passion as I help women navigate the complex territory of fertility, pregnancy, and childbirth. I have two boys of my own, one of them born at home, and am well versed in the full spectrum, from allopathic to holistic medicine, as it pertains to pre and post natal treatment. I look forward to being a resource for the East Boulder County community in this regard.
